Asset Pipeline
The Hard Alpha Philosophy
To support both high-color modern builds and 8-bit DOS hardware, we use a tiered asset pipeline. Master assets are 32-bit Transparent PNGs, converted via the GameStudio Image Convertor:
- Primary: 32-bit TGA with alpha-blending and anti-halo edge bleeding. Supports dynamic **8, 12, or 16-way** granularity.
- Legacy: 8-bit Paletted BMPs for DOS. We use Automated Palette Mapping and Floyd-Steinberg Dithering to ensure sprite fidelity even in 256-color modes.
